Even as a child, I developed a great passion for handicrafts. When I was 8 years old, my grandmother taught me to crochet first, and then to knit. She essentially laid the foundation for my “knitting career.” That’s why the name of my little label goes back to her. ‘Paulastrickt’ or ‘Paula_m’ stands for Paula Müller. By profession, I’m actually a certified conservator specializing in stone objects. For many years, I traveled to construction sites all over Germany, always with yarn and knitting needles in my bag. After work, I would often knit late into the night, supplying my colleagues with socks, hats, and scarves. At the end of 2011, I offered my first collection of hand-knitted accessories on the German platform Dawanda. It was a huge success – I could hardly keep up with the knitting orders. By 2015, I had sold around 3,000 headbands, hats, and scarves – all hand-knitted by me using my own patterns. Eventually (around 2016), interest in my patterns grew larger than in my handmade accessories, so today I exclusively write and sell knitting patterns. I would describe my style as ‘simple elegance.’ I like timeless and uncomplicated clothing, and that’s reflected in my designs. My motto: Less is more. I find inspiration on the street, in everyday life, and especially while traveling. I’m always out and about with open eyes and a notebook in hand.
