The SofiaCardigan is worked back and forth in one piece.
First, the two front pieces are worked consecutively. The front band is knitted directly along one edge.
For the light batwing sleeves, stitches are increased on the sleeve side until the required sleeve length is reached. Then, the width of the front and sleeve is knitted straight up. At the same time, the closure band is continued on one side and the sleeve band on the sleeve side.
Next, cable pattern strips for the sleeve gathering are placed approximately at elbow height. Once both front pieces are completed, the stitches of both fronts are joined, and the back is worked from top to bottom. The sleeve gathering is continued until it reaches the same height as on the fronts. The sleeve bands are also continued on both sides.
The decreases for the sleeve shaping are worked mirror-inverse to the increases on the fronts. Then, stockinette stitch is worked over all stitches down to the bottom ribbed edge. After binding off the stitches, the side seams are closed.
