The Letterjacket is knitted seamlessly from top to bottom in one piece. It starts with the back piece, where the shoulder slopes are shaped using short rows. Stitches for the two front pieces are then picked up from the shoulder slopes. After shaping the V-neck with increases, the knitting continues to the armhole depth, where all parts are joined. The body is worked straight to the desired length and finished with an I-cord bind-off. This also creates the continuous I-cord edge for the front and neckline. The sleeves are knitted directly onto the body and shaped into a balloon form with decreases before being finished with an I-cord edge.
