Description

#BasicRibSweater by ann.ka.thrin
The varying lengths in the front and back sections, along with the side slit, give the Basic Rib Sweater its unique charm. First, the central sections of the front and back are knitted and joined at the shoulders. Then, stitches are picked up around the neckline to knit the ribbed neckline trim. Once the desired height is reached, a folding edge and the same ribbing height are knitted again. The stitches are then bound off by knitting them together with newly picked-up stitches from the neckline trim’s edge.

Next, new stitches are picked up from the knitting edge of one side of the front and back across the shoulder seam and worked perpendicularly from the center outwards towards the sleeves. When the desired width is reached, the stitches from both sides are set aside, and the sleeve is completed in the round with a few additional cast-on stitches under the arm.

After that, new stitches are picked up again from the narrow cast-on edge under the arm, and rows are worked back and forth over this narrow strip. In every second row, the still-open stitches from the sides of the front and back are knitted together to close the side. Before reaching the lower edge of the shorter front section, only the stitches of the front are knitted together to form the slit until all front stitches are used up.

Next, stitches are picked up again on the inside from the slit trim to close the back side in the same way. The other side, including the sleeve and slit, is worked the same way.
